Breast enlargement, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is one of the most well-known and performed surgeries today. The objective of this intervention is to increase the size of the breast thanks to the doctor placing implants of gel, silicone or serum. The most recommended currently are silicone because the result is more natural and in case of rupture the implant does not expel any liquid and maintains the same shape.
At the end of the intervention of the augmentation mammoplasty the patient can return home accompanied shortly afterwards.
The surgery of augmentation mammoplasty is quite simple. A small incision is made, depending on each case this can be done around the lower part of the areola, just below the chest or the armpit. Mammary prostheses are introduced through this incision.
The prosthesis can be placed above or below the pectoral muscle and usually under the mammary gland.
This intervention can be performed under local anesthesia and sedation and hospitalisation after surgery is not necessary as the patient can be discharged a few hours later.
According to the technique of each surgeon, some use drainages and others do not. At Royal Aesthetic Clinic we do not use drainage system for the comfort of our patients. Thanks to the technique used by Dr. Martin we simply put a compressive bandage for one or two days. After that time it is removed to place a special bra and band that help the chest to go taking the desired shape.
